Every so often I take some time and watch this conversation between Questlove and Roman GianArthur. The message in this video personally speaks to me. Over the years, I've had a lot of conversations with my peers about the legacy that I want to leave. What is most important to me is creating a community. It may make my journey a little longer because I'm looking to help someone instead of maybe being present at something I probably should be. But in the end, when you've strengthened the folks around you, then its worth it. My desire to create a community goes deep into my childhood. Growing up in my neighborhood, there weren't many black people and there certainly weren't any Africans. Being raised traditionally, it was very easy for me to identify another Ghanaian in public. I would approach, introduce myself and explain my intentions clearly even at the age of 7. Anyways, long story short, that desire never left, it only matured over time and now its helped me to get to know an amazing group of individuals through this thing called Karmalifee and for that I'm thankful.
